Besides our technical expertise, currently with 3 PhDs in Telecommunications and 1 MSc in Computer Science, creating and forging ahead with a Start-Up also takes the extraordinary views, experience and intuition of its founders.
All of this can only strive if cemented together with the right minds and spirits.

Our team
Mónica Figueiredo
PhD in High-Speed Electronics, she is the founder and CEO of TWEVO. She has more than 20 years of experience as an Electronics Lecturer at Instituto Politécnico de Leiria and as a researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicações in the field of high-speed digital design and configurable electronic circuit design. She has lead and actively participated in research projects and activities, having over 30 international publications, including book chapters, journals and conferences.
Carlos Ribeiro
PhD in Wireless Communications, Post-Doc in Wireless Communications Hardware, he is the founder and Chief Technical Officer (CTO) of TWEVO, an entrepreneur involved in the creation of two start-ups in the area of wireless systems and communication networks. He has more than 10 years’ experience in the design & implementation of Wireless Systems, including in the development of Bluetooth & ZigBee integrated circuits. He has over 20 years of experience as a Communications Lecturer at Instituto Politécnico de Leiria and researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicações in the field of wireless communications, networks and electronics. He has participated in several EU R&D projects and lead several R&D projects. He is recognised as an international expert in the area of communications with over 60 international publications, including book chapters, journals and conferences.
João Gil
PhD in Wireless Communications, he is TWEVO’s Chief Product Officer (CPO) and an entrepreneur involved in the creation of two SMEs in the Tourism and Creative Industries. He has several years’ experience in RF hardware design, and in certification and compliance. He received the PhD degree in Wireless Communications, from the Technical University of Lisbon in 2004. He was a researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicações, and also a Lecturer on communications and electronics at the Instituto Politécnico de Leiria until 2007, for more than 10 years. He has participated in several large scale EU R&D projects, and published book chapters, international journals and conferences.
Pedro Cirne
PhD student in Wireless Security, he is TWEVO’s OS & Software Engineer and associate researcher at the Instituto de Telecomunicações and Institute of Electronics and Informatics Engineering of Aveiro in the field of network security. He has more than 5 years’ experience in OS design & low-level programming, and participated in several projects on network security. He concluded his M.Sc. in Computer and Telematics Engineering at University of Aveiro in 2016. Pedro is a Ph.D. student in University of Aveiro since 2017 and he has several scientific contributions, including international journals, tutorials, and conferences in the field of network security.
